I Was Mistaken
I was mistaken to think that your smile was real
It was absurd to think that you’d feel
Think that you’d see
Think that you’d be
Any different from her but she
Was given the chance and she failed
You never had the chance cause
From the beginning I could tell
I was mistaken about who I thought you were
A disguise, a spy, but did it ever occur
That you would one day be found
That a day would come when all would be out
To be viewed and seen by the least of us
Melancholy tones escape from your lips
A despondent look from the sounds of the brook
You deceive me? No never that
You fooled yourself
And left yourself
With nothing but yourself
And as you crash back into reality
And open your eyes to the stark visibility
Of your transparency
You feel nude and cover with fig leaves
But eventually…
