Timing

Thousands of miles
with hope alone as my wings
hurried
Crossing many eyes, hands,
and hearts
pushing through
high, high I flew
forty years of wilderness wandering
that finally led me to
you.

"I'm right here"
I called, with a big sigh
and a warm smile.
"Open the gate"!

You glanced at the clock
and then back at me
"You're a little too early,
or maybe too late"...
