And Life Said
Life, I’ve known you, known you because you are unfair;
Life, since I know you, I know you hardly care.
I’ve seen the heavens ripped and the ground give way,
The brilliance of the mushroom cloud desecrated the early day.
Have they written that the error shall not be repeated again?
Why then are children still starving and all that bloodshed in vain?
Why then does one toddler have a nursery full of stars and light?
And why does another scavenge dustbins for that single bite?
Who said we have to defend the one who has made us all?
Why don’t you let us know, to feel and the past recall?
Why have you let us forget our way to the eternal bliss?
Why did you give us all and take away then for us to miss?
Listen my child, I love you but you too learn to love thyself.
Never look in the mirror and exclaim, “Oh! How I love myself”.
For mirror are you in your mind, delve there and roll and pitch.
For then you’ll know all’s fair and believe that “Now we all are rich”.
