I Thought I Knew
I thought I knew this one
This one with whom I share a life
A life envied by most standards of society
And of society I question these things
These things which are senseless
Senselessly arousing my anger
Anger taunts the soul
The soul that longs to understand
Understanding is the key to it all
But it all fades before my eyes
As my eyes are not yet ready to see
To seas of sadness I turn
And so I turn to this one
This one I thought I knew
And I knew the pain of another kind
Another kind of love far too close to touch
So to this touch I mask my disappointment
Disappointed in this one I thought I knew
