Every Road Leads To Disaster

(Hope is for the lucky)

Where do I go from here,
This path I walk is never clear,
It's grown over with briar and thorn,
The more I walk,
The more I grow tired and worn.
With every mile that passes by,
my smile grows a little more torn.
I'll keep walking however,
Because I'm not a quitter.
With every highway sign i stumble a little more
My feet are growing sore.
With every mile I grow bitter
But I keep going.
Because I'm not a quitter.
I just passed marker 65.
Only God knows how I am still alive.
I ran into a girl walking the same way,
So in her company I will choose to stay.
When we reached a fork in the road,
We came to an agreement.
As she went left and I went right.
The sounds of her laughter still haunt my sight.
So here I am still walking on this lonely road,
I'm growing numb even if it's ever so slow.
With every mile that passes
My eyes grow a little more resentful.
I'll keep going however...
Because I am not a quitter.
