Impact

In the grand scheme of things I am inconsequential,
A cog or a lever though nothing essential,
Not too clever nor bright but not stupid or mental,
With a comfortable life if in parts uneventful.

With the lack of a purpose or some grand design,
I tick on consistently just wasting my time,
Filling my days drinking lager and wine,
And ruffling no feathers which suits me just fine.

My name won’t appear in the history books,
My thoughts not remembered, nor actions or looks,
I won’t build a dynasty or start any groups,
I’ll just shuffle off quietly and you won’t give two f00ks.

The world will go on like it did before me,
I’m a drop In the ocean or a very large sea,
And the writers of history will likely agree,
That my life’s had the impact of an ant or a flea.
