Lamenting the Death of Nature

Lamenting the death of Nature

The rivers are dry and the dams are bursting
Drying savannah and in some cases totally scorched
I feel the pang in my heart , smelling the fumes
Of fires so fierce i can barely breath
The widely spaced trees that used to give a canopy
To an ever so green savannah is no more
The ocean that used to be so blue reflecting on the blue skies
Has turned from grey to brown and from brown to being
Filled with debris from all over the world
Plastic to glass and paper to metal and even dead animals
The sand that i used to roll and frolick on is just as dirty
But where is humanity when we hurt bruise and abuse nature
Who is guilty i quiz myself hopelessly in my mind
The answer lies with all of us yes all of us living today
The forces of nature have had it for every passing day
A natural disaster is reported from all angles of the globe
Mudslides here burning forests there and nothing seems to change
Our nature of feeding into an endless lust of consumerism
Has turned and made us humans an enemy to nature
Children born tomorrow will be born into a balding earth
I cry for mother nature for no amount of money could replace her
For at the end of the day there will be no more trees to print the money
Mother nature do not let your wrath fall upon us
Give us the wisdom to respect and honour your children
The earth the water the fire the air and most of all
The space we all need to live in
