My Present

Stressed, depressed...all understatements
Striving for greatness but not coming close to making it
See for you it's poetry but for me it's our life
To walk in the house with my kids and out goes the light
I know it's a cold hearted world but this is not right
Try to get help and they are putting us through hell
I walk with a smile on my face so the people can't tell
I did not grow up rich but our power never got turned off
I made a go fund me trying to bring heat and lights back to my kids
But its another cold dark night as they lay in their beds
As I write this by candle light the tears are falling fast
I'm longing for the day that this is just a bad memory in our past
Mommy and Daddy are sorry that this happened
Mommy cares for you daily all having health issues
Daddy works hard... after the bills we can barely afford tissues
You are our world and we love you, nothing on this planet above you
For most this is poetry but for us it's our present
