Open the Floodgates

Open the Floodgates

Huddled together like one thousand tears
Or a million moons in one sky
Hundreds of vehicles, wreckage galore
Too many sad scenes make one cry…

Cancer cells, heartache, delusions, and pain
Or a million bags in the sea
Bundles of flowers knotted too tight
Packed immigrants yearn to be free…

Colors too bright, the sun too intense
Or a million ants in one pile
Too many drugs, too much weight to support
Too much hurt to allow one to smile…

Too many feelings of pain and despair
Or a million unwanted hates
Freedom, dear freedom, a billion tears
When it’s time to open the floodgates…

Really strong imagery throughout... I can just feel the tears waiting to have a chance to come pouring out. Such poignancy in "Too much hurt to allow one to smile…".
