On a bench in this gloomy park
Sits a quiet man his arms folded tight
Grey hat with mittens tucked into his sides
His jacket buttoned to the very top
But for his breath he is invisible
So long has he been in this spot
He feels stiff, frozen in prose
Hypnotized by the leaves’ fiery dance
Lead by the icy hand with a smooth rhythm

Trace the furrows on his face
To their roots deep within his soul
And understand the tale etched in each crease
The lesson long since learned
Scarred into his memories and tears
Whose remaining drops have been boxed and packed away
To the ignorant world he has shed none
Unseen he feels relieved
