To My Beloved Wife and Children

I may not be the best husband or father ,
but you all are the best that has ever happened to me;
 my wife I am not the most good looking man in town ,
but for you my dear I will make myself like the young lads that parade in beauty contests,
I trim my beard delicately on a Sunday morning in thought of you,
I put on my best when we take a walk down the park
like I am appearing before the queen of England,
you my dear are my queen ,your majesty,
I may not be the best cook but for you my dear I will read the books of the masters and cook you a storm, forget the stereotypes of gender, my only joy is to see you smile, I may not be perfect and I will error , but for you my love I will apologize a million times, you my beloved are my world , I seek not to be your ruler but your slave and kiss your feet,
you are not a reward but a grace to me,
I will not treat you like a priced possession for even they;
can be manipulated,
you are not a possession to me but a miracle,
I will shamelessly cling to you,
I belong to you more than you to belong to me,
second only to God, I live to please you
I love you

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

The inspiration of the poem, was the dream of single girl, envisioning how she wants her future husband to see her, the value he should accord to her, putting herself in the His shoes these are the words she would say, If she were a man to his wife , it is her fantasy of how marriage should be opposing to the norm of how most African or religious marriages are like. A man who esteems his wife as she is the more delicate vessel.
