Wolf Songs

Next year sixty-five will come and you will be on your own
My tenure will be up
I aim to hike the west with my canine companion
My hair is lengthy, softest grey
My hands are sheathed in leather gloves
Worn to perfection

Next year sixty-five will reach you, all of this will end
Our lifelong contract has expired
I have nothing more to spend
All my life I’ve dreamed to walk
Desert canyons call my name
Wolf songs ring my ear

I’ll leave you to be old and mean
Its not a good combination
Maybe nurses will see you through
Or a neighbor that doesn’t know you

I will never see you again
My camp will be far away.
I never needed what you had
I don’t know why I stayed
You rocked me, haunted me but now I free
I’m going my merry way.

Love the voice of freedom in this, but it seems to be a bit specific in tone and audience. Enjoy the freedom you find in your wolf song. Jaycee
