Rapunzel
Rapunzel let down her lucious hair,
Fragrant, fine, and fair.
She did not dare to let it fall into great disrepair.
Day upon day and week after week
Combing herself weak;
Her hair wore out her energy, making her neck creak.
As her captor commanded her to
Let it continue
To grow to envious lengths, she became ever more blue.
Imprisoned, reclusive, too lonely,
She could not find joy.
Eventually she conversed with friends who could not reply.
Each evening as night fell she would spell
The name Rapunzel
In a whisper to herself, emitting a shrill cackle.
Invisible shackles bound her mind
'Til she could not find
But one beam of sunshine to which she had not become blind.
Her hair consumed her until one day;
Her master, away,
Returned to find her hung from her hair in an eerie sway.
