Breeze

I hide the tears and the running mascara with a smile and a laugh,
Little do they know that you were my other half.
We used to laugh and play and be happy in each other's company,
But now everyday is an argument as you accompany
Your words with stares and gestures and anger,
Pulling me down like a desolated anchor.
You think you're so tough with your words and your strength,
And it used to be fine, the first time or the tenth,
But now I seem to find myself in tears and in pain,
And now nothing matters as my body is at a strain.
I keep telling you to show love,
But all I see in those eyes are a kind of
Deep seated anger of loss or emptiness,
Which leave my heart broken and breathless.
If just some way you could see what you're doing to me,
I'm sure you would try to see what I see,
You would never hurt me again,
Never shout at me again,
Never insult me again,
Never make me go through this again,
But I keep waiting and waiting and your time's running out,
And then the thoughts in my mind will no longer be doubts.
I love you, I do and I really want to stay,
But soon, very soon, in our bed alone you will lay.
I'm warning you know, you don't have time left,
My heart you stole and that was theft,
But now it's time to take back what is mine,
All battered and bruised with a huge glaring sign,
"Save me, save me!" It's begging on its knees,
Now let me go and be one with the breeze.
