20 20

IF I could live just one more day To breathe in all around me To see the beauty in your face The love you tried to give me To hear the music of your heart That lit the world around it To feel your hand curled soft in mine Just to know you found me. IF You would come again To heal the pain inside me To let me know I am forgiven To soothe regrets that stab me The fragments remain so fragile But you have gone and left me To remember - alone To wish for one more moment Once more and once again Looking to you to save me. How did you love this liar So full of self Of recrimination? IF Only the heart could heal itself But of all the parts – it doesn’t Not really It can’t – so grows the tender green That yields so much Too late. The shadow of thoughts surround me The moments past The moments gone The moments lost Forever Weigh heavy Undone and Done Not gone – not ever! IF Going back were possible To appreciate you – perfect To love you before myself To let you know and show it Would I change? The second chance To Sieze it? Or As before – just let it slip Into the wasted nether? IF Only we could understand Forever – is not forever Not here Not upon the Earth So short our terminal knowledge. Past lives – dark eyes Forget each incarnation Repeating – to repeat The same mistakes. Damnation! 20/20 - unforgiving. Unforgiven! IF
