Abused

Her face held age
gasped scar piled upon scar
from a man's thunderous rage
still stings, though gone you are

Her heart in chest beats
though it halted once within
those fists & words come to greet
from his parents & his own sins

She held her head high with pride
in a world that sometimes seems artic cold
promised never to let teardrops fall in sighs
for a nefarious man that causes agony so bold
