Hunters Moon

Teeth snapping
I back away
He follows with his dirty scent
The cage of metal surrounds me
I have no where to go
I growl
I snarl
I bite
But he just laughs
He takes me to a place
That reeks of death
And there he leaves me
till the sun sits high after the moon
He beats
He teases
He taunts
He gives up
And leaves till the moon sits high after the sun
I hear him
I smell him
I see him
Stagger towards my cage
‘just a little closer’ I think
And he obeys
He stops
I wait
…
Fury consumes me as I pounce
His blood, warm as fire fills my mouth
As a pathetic gurgle comes from his,
His heart stops
He’s dead
I won
I stand over my kill in victory
Then run off into the night
The grass is wet under my four paws
And the air is crisp
And through the woods I can hear
my sisters call to the moon
The Hunters Moon
