A Lazy Afternoon

I sit on my deck on this lazy afternoon
watching the sun move slowly to the west

The leaves are dancing on the oak tree out back
from a breeze gently blowing from the south

A sparrow is hopping from post to post
on the old fence down by the road

A little squirrel playing and running around
to the top of the tree and down to the ground

then I hear a whistle from a distant train
And the rhythm is like music to my ears

I think to myself what wonderful way
to spend a beautiful lazy afternoon

Oma, enjoying the glory and beauty of nature and her creatures is a wonderful way to spend a "beautiful lazy afternoon." I float in my pool, sometimes for hours, listening to the birds and allowing my imagination to run wild. It helps inspire creative writing, doesn't it? Love this poem, Carolyn
