The Quest

In the continuous quest

To find my place

Materialism left my mind in a haze

And lead me astray

-But-

What must I do to let my soul rest?

Long after my body is laid upon a casket and buried

Material things hold no weight, so what were my worries?

God gave us free will

To choose between the righteous and the forbidden

My body is weak, my spirit is willing

And temptation still has me sinning

They say God is merciful …

Will the gates open for the most wicked sinners?

After a life of vice repent and pray for forgiveness,

Forget spiteful beginnings?

Where does that leave those of us in between?
