Daddy's Little Angel

She is just a baby
To young to understand
Her little bowed legs
Her longing out stretched hand

The world revolves around her
As far as she can see
She can't yet comprehend
Why mommy and daddy disagree

She's walks and talks
She listens and she learns
She now has a vague idea
For what daddy always yearns

Mommy yells at daddy
Daddy yells at mom
So very little changes
It just goes on and on

A little older now
She hates the arguments
She lives and loves the both of us
To her it makes no sense

Why mommy loves her daddy
And daddy lovers her mom
Yet they fight with such bitterness
And seem to mean such harm

Then they hug, kiss and love
Things so much improve
And life is so much happier
Her hurts and fears are soothed

She sees the danger coming
She has seen it all before
Quietly inside herself
She's prepares for a war

The house explodes in violence
The accusations fly
The chaos just goes on and on
As bitter years go by

Daddy's gone the fighting stop
But life is none the better
She's always wanting her daddy
In her hand she holds his letter

The letter's from her daddy
She reads it with a tear
Her daddy he's so far away
She wishes he was near

As he writes with anger
She can almost see
The evil men in her daddy's world
What terror that must be

Her daddy writes the loving words
She wants to hear him say
She reads of all his promises
He says he'll prove to her one day

She Just wants her daddy home
She doesn't even care
Things could be just as they were
If only her daddy were there

I know that it will take some time
I know there will be pain
But for rainbows and for sunshine
First there must be rain

There always will be storms
Life is just that way
But when this storm is over
Maybe her daddy will come back to stay

Here I make my promise
To my first baby girl
The life you've always wanted
Ill bring you in this world

I know that when your dad comes home
he will show you what he means
All the happiness you deserve
Is coming in your teens

Just wait a little longer
God protects us all
One day we will recover
From this, our biggest fall

hi Laura, Incredible write hear. Really enjoyed this message. And a lesson to be learnt here, what we say in front of our children is very important. Tender spoken words in love are better than angry hostile ones. kevin
