Presidental History

Today, the country has had an important change,
Old-fashioned thinking is now rearranged,
Showing that people can be color-blind,
This proving that everyone is entwined.

His family was there for moral support,
Most problems to eventually thwart,
The crowd was larger than ever before,
As he gets ready for the burdensome chore.

No one can totally prepare for this role,
At times he will have to dig deep into his soul,
He’ll have to start working right away,
All along many have had things to say.

Now the two daughters go back to school,
None of the problems will be minuscule,
There is no real pass or fail for this job,
Wonder if he likes corn-on-the-cob?

Hi Dorothea - well written poem. You're words are on point about the presidency -there really is no pass or fail -you've said it very well. I would like to extend my hand in welcome to the PoetrySoup community. There’s a lot to learn from each other here and hopefully you will have a great time while at it. Feel free to drop me a line when you can. I am looking forward to reading more from you. Vicky.
