Waiting Only For a Letter

Seventeen years ago
I wrote a letter to you
For the last time.

I thought I would never write
After I had met you
For the last time.

You were so worried about me.
I met you and said to you,
"We've to depart our birth place forever."

But you could not rely on me.
I left my village alone forever
As I had nothing to do.

One year passed
With the sweet moments
Which we spent for fifteen years.

Like a banished person
I wandered here and there
And made out the meaning of life.

I went far away from you
But I could not wipe out you
From my mind, from my heart.

Perhaps you too were not well like me.
So I took a pen and a piece of paper
To write to you for the last time.

I failed to write how I was really.
I wrote, "I am so happy here.
Forget me and be happy forever."

Perhaps you received my letter
And had tried to find me for years
Only to know how I was.

So many years passed; the age changed.
Perhaps you posted so many letters
But those returned to you one by one.

Perhaps you got so tired
Of writing to me again and again
And at last stopped writing.

Eighteen years passed
Since I met you for the last time.
Yet my heart waits for your letter every time.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Meanwhile, I greet you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.
