The One That Got Away

I always remember you when the sun shines.
When the sun shined on your face, and
The sparkles that radiate around you.
That was the magic I remembered.
In those years, we laughed and cried,
When life was good.
I wish I could go back to that time,
I would change those things.
You were the one that slipped through my fingers,
the one I let go, and now, I'm left with nothing but regret.
You were always that person,
That I could never forget.
As the years fly by,
Some partners and a few marriages,
Yet all have failed,
Because they're not you.
I wish and pray at night to go back in time and
Save us so that we can have our happy ending, but
That only happens in the Fairy tales.
So, I dream so I can have you in my arms.
One day, maybe one day,
We will find each other.
I look on my phone, and I realize,
The past has indeed caught up with the future.
I see your picture a little older, but,
Still so beautiful.
Your smile radiates off the page,
As I remember those days of yesteryear.
I click "Accept."
I see your DM with a simple message,
That puts a smile on my face.
Charming, do you want to find your happy ending?
I answer, yes, Snow, I missed you so much!
Charming, this is your second chance,
Please don't blow it!
Snow, I promise you it won't happen, not again,
I've regretted that day all my life.
The doorbell rings, and I smile,
Knowing who's on the other side.
The door opens, and I see Snow.
A princess as she ever was.
As they say in all fairy tales,
"They lived happily ever after,
Prince Charming and Snow White."
