Keep me close to all that’s humble
Keep me in Your holy shade
Grant that every earthly pursuit and fear
finally disappear and fade
I have been down countless side-roads
Lost my way for lack of light
You have always come to fetch me again
Make this, Lord, my final flight.
Every day is just a daydream
Every room an empty hall
Every earthly dream of riches and fame
Just a shadow ‘gainst the wall
What I am is grace and gravel
What I have is borrowed light
I am thirsting for Your waters of rest
Lord, oh lead me there tonight
