Final Breath

Final Breath

There is a time in life I believe
That comes with imminent death
A realization of something more
As you approach your final breath

You think of all the things
You have done while alive and well
And some are not so good
And could lead you straight to hell

Of course you have done some good things
And they will be weighed and measured
And the times you really went out of your way
Well those times will surely be treasured

You remember all the times
The good, the bad, and the best
They all go flashing through your mind
As you face eternal rest

So many things over the years
You now contemplate with sorrow
All the things you should have done
Would clearly get done …Tomorrow

Well they didn’t get done
And there is only you to blame
But you have one more choice to make
It will keep you out of the flame

Turn your eyes towards heaven
And our Lord’s saving Grace
Ask forgiveness of all your sins
Before you leave this sinful place

Then you will walk the streets of gold
And have no more fear of death
Because you asked to be forgiven
Before that last final breath.
