What If

What if I told you the sky was purple
and that the clouds were really a dark green
could you imagine the luscious possibility
Or is your mind a reality check machine

Take a trip into your subconscious
maybe what you see is a dream
maybe the stars bleed blue
as red seeps into the ocean stream

We are taught as a child what to think
The language and colors of life
And not to challenge the system
Not to looks back, like Lot's wife

So imagine, you lay out in a field
Yellow grass sways in the wind
The lavender sky stretches before your eyes
and nature's balance hazily ends

Forget what you've been told
Forget it while you can
Before you become too senile
Because time waits for no man

The clouds are green I tell you,
The vast oceans are red
The purple skies adorn a silver moon
As it shines through the window near my bed

Sleep well love, because in the morning
The skies will once again be blue
After your imagination sobers
The possibilities become few.
