My True Friend Is Poetry

Poetry you have been
for many years
my savior, my confidant
my truest friend.

Nothing could ever replace
a warm hug or the gentle
caress of loving hands;
but you've allowed for me
to express freely on paper
my inner most thoughts and
the ability to release through
rapidness of ink and unquiet hands the
joys and burdens of life.

Ran out of things to say for while;
so I went out and explored, meet
people in the outside world and saw
that my hurt is no different nor have
I been praying to a lesser God than those
who have the ability to watch the
sunset or rise but neglect to see the beauty
and gift bestowed upon them.

I'm sorry I was gone for a while
dear friend, for you never had
an unkind thing to say, nor have
tried to shun my mistakes
you the bearer of my souls truth,
The liberator of sorrows my loyalest
friend Please forgive my absence
still many things to be said.....

I experienced your poem today. You have something to say about life, about poetry, about truth itself.... "still many things to be said". I'm listening in. Jim

I'm much in tone with the plight. Good writings does take it's toll. Poems say it well. Well done!

The experience of putting your thought on paper for the perusal of others offers a certain inner satisfaction that must be experienced to be appreciated, letting your own words guide you to a deeper awareness of your surroundings. Emile.
