Awaken

Today is a new day
How I long for the new
Wondering what life has in
store
A journey for me and you

The sun did set on yesterday
And awakened a new morn
The past behind us
Leaving aches and thorns

Now a warm summer sun
Beams glistening on a river bed
And peaceful dreams swarm my
mind
When I lay down my head

The stars sparkle brighter
The night air captures my soul
And in every captivating
moment
You play a roll

As I take a deep breath
Smell the lingering of your
scent
Imprinted in my memory
From time together we spent

The crickets began to chirp
Birds begin to sing
In a collaborative chorus
Overwhelming joy they bring

So what is this new path
Full of light, joy and spark
A guided way out
From a path of dark

Am I really here
Or is this a dream
Full of oceans and lakes
Rivers and streams

Not everything is perfect
This we all know
We all have a past
And have to reap what we sow

But a new path we walk
Though may not be perfect and
smooth
But I'll walk hand in hand
Down any path with you
