The Lengths of Love
How far will a heart stretch
when love starts to hurt too much?
it's bursting at the seams.
I'm beginning to lose touch
of everything i thought
that love was supposed to be;
like natural, sweet, and simple,
innocent, and care-free.
love used to be easy,
like taking breaths of air.
now it's a constant struggle.
the fight just isn't fair.
I only want to love you
and be loved back, of course.
though it seems with every fight,
we just keep getting worse.
we don't want our love to end;
what we have is far too pure.
but i don't know how much
more pain we can endure.
the heart is pretty fragile.
you should handle it with care.
lately mine is battered up
from all the wear and tear.
I'm trusting you once more.
my heart is in remission.
it's yours for life, as long
as it stays in good condition.
