Drip, Drop

Drip, drop.
The tub is drenched…
With a messy substance
That’s red and thick.

Why can’t you just believe in me?
In what I am,
In what I’m not.
Why can’t that just be enough?

Why have I never had the courage
Had the strength
To look in the mirror
And look this monster in the eyes…
Tell her what I think of her…
How she makes me feel inside.

The continuation
Of this mutilation
Gives her a sense of control
And power…
How I so long for that
Sense of control.

Now I know,
Who the enemy is
The confirmation
of my deprivation
Is complete.

Tears on my face…
I can barely feel it.
At least I know that you cared enough
To cry for me…
Drip, drop.
