Just Like Me

Walking down the hall I see your face.
Why do I feel like such a disgrace?
People stare and laugh as they pass.
They think it’s funny when they hit your back.
Why do they do this?
Why can’t they see that you are just like me?

Feeling your pain as I watch them like a parade.
I don’t know what to do I feel.
I feel so ashamed.

Weeping. . .
Weeping. . .
Weeping in the dark.

How do you go on?
How do you start?

This day seems as if it will never end.
Walking over with tears in my eyes,
I see all their faces all so surprised.
I embrace you like a child.

They do not understand.
You seem so “wild.”

And yet they do not see,
They do not listen,
They do not hear,
What they are doing to you, it’s so severe.

Why can’t they listen?
Why can’t they see?

Your hair, your clothes, your shoes, your feelings. . .
And when they hurt you, they’re hurting me,
And when I hug you, you’re really hugging me.
Why can’t they see that you are just like me?

Your poem speaks much meaning, and I hope that someday all the bulling will end someday.
