Magpie

An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,
Pitied is the vanity of sheer vengeance-
For lying in justice is seldom truth
And petty satisfaction in mere penance.

The Magpie, all swathed in day and night,
Shall weep into the genesis innocence,
But beware what skulks in black and white,
For crocodiles’ tears bear dissonance.

Ignorance is the key to Hades’ gate-
It bleeds and forgets mortal guilt,
In the benevolent the Devil lurks and awaits
The destruction of the crucifix goodwill built.

Oh Magpie, what divine hands forged thy evil eye?
Yet bestowed an unlikely love so smooth,
A Magpie’s lie is never a lie,
And its truth is never truth.

no that was not a pick up line i'm way too old for the hunt. look, if you read some of my stuph and see what i mean maybe we can mix some spices.and create something worthy of being dubbed gourmet cooking.i used to do this with a lady, each day one of us would write a single line, and then i take it wherever it leads me, then u and so on why one poem from you when there are five more poems inside that one..i implore you as a FELLOW POET..READ ME AND TELL ME WHAT U THINK freepoetry@att.net thnx

it's difficult to imagine how you so swiftly take thoughts that mean zero to anyone, but the lines that sparkle make every syllable willfully worth it. i'm not bragging but look how many poems i've contributed.. it's a lot..Jeffry Cohan,i think we both see the darkness of predestined frustration, we both feel as if life is simply pre-K for Hell, "genesis innocence" now i would have put a word between those two, but there was no room, what with your soul squeezed in..read me pretty plese ~free!~
