Reversed Roles

I wished to be the one to save you from yourself,
the one to pull you up when you caved into your Hell.

But, as time goes on, I figure this out:
my passion is slowly turning into doubt.

The end of this road is coming,
I thought it would be much longer.
My plans to help you rise above have failed;
First, I must become stronger.

I fell in love. This is no lie,
but circumstances have changed.
I didn't plan on this event,
our roles have rearranged.

I am the weak one now,
desperate to befriend the Grim Reaper.
Wishing all of this would go away,
my grave is growing deeper.

I turn around,
you're standing there.
You have dirt, dust, and blood in your hair.

I begin to sob,
I fall to pieces.
You grab my hand...
Your help's never been so useless.

I drown in fear,
I wallow in pain.
I take off the shirt that your tears have stained.

Now you're alone,
as am I.
We're searching for answers that we know we'll never find.

I've stopped breathing,
I've given up.
The only thing I have to rely on is fate, destiny, and luck.

Never has now become today.
We've spoken lies.
Our hearts are sick with shame...

Time to slip.
Time to fall.
This fateful hour concludes it all...
