Who Am I You Ask

i cried out to you
with my tempo
i gave myself to you
with my emotions
i believed in you
with my feelings
i trusted you
with my senses
i danced for you
with the rhythm of my beat
i sung music
for you
with my melody
i loved you with every ounce of blood in me
i breathed you
i hungered for you
i made music with you....
perfect harmony
but what happened?
was it enough?
is it ever enough?
you still say you don't recognize me
how can you say you don't know who i am
i gave you my all
and still you stomped on me
ripped me from my environment
laughed at me
wrote jokes about me
paraded my broken pieces everywhere
you darkened me
changed me
for worse
you stab me with your hatred
you cut me with your un-true stories
who am i you ask
still laughing
still cutting
still breaking....
I'm the heart of the person you once said you loved....
will you ever stop?

Welcome to poetrySoup Elijah. I know this is a late welcome but, I have some very pressing matters going on at the present time. I hope to be back and at full speed in the next couple of weeks. Until then please keep writing and sharing your poetry. Love, Carol
