Work In Progress

On the outside looking in

A young black male is what
you behold.

But it's much more than that.

How did I get here?

How did I come to be?

What where my ancestors like?

Truth be told  life was not
always so glamourous

for a young black man like
myself.

Centuries ago boats pulled
upon the shore of Africa to
kidnap

The strongest men and the
healthiest woman

And for hundreds of years

We had to work for the white
man for no pay

To be beaten and raped

But I ask for no compensation

 for something my ancestors
went through so long ago

All I can do is better Myself

And hope my fellow black peers
do the same

For as the black community is
an ever expanding

"Work in Progress"
