You Put Me Here

I met her at a public place
Our eyes met for the first time
I immediately felt so many emotions
"What was it about her that made you
step out on our commitment?"
"Was she more beautiful than I?"
"Did I not fulfill my wifely duties?"
"How come loving me appropriately was
a hard thing for you to do?"
"Was I not enough?"
I told myself I wasn't going to allow
any man to make me feel less
than what I was worth
She told me she killed one of you babies
and carried the other in her womb
My heart broke in so many pieces
I remained strong not one tear fell
I was so overwhelmed by grief I couldn't
allow myself to accept her apology nor respect
her in that moment
Yes I am pissed at you
Yes I deserve better
Yes you will get what you get
Yes our family will not be the same
and I will not allow this moment to define me
