Puncture Wound

The needles are numbered
The heart beats few
The mind emptying
The tale of raven's hell
Rapping at the door
The flesh singed to ashes
Fire in the air
The brittle fragments
Jagged to the bone
The weeping iris
One last breath
As the needle passes through

Interesting & challenging, took me from Poe's RAVEN or maybe about someone reading it, to everything Poe wrote. This is some challenge. However, I may be missing everything, maybe it is about caterak surgery? I think the best poetry is poetry that is a challange and can mean many things to different people, this is just such a poem. One day a couple years ago, a spider from Europe, I forget its name, it bit me on the side of my leg & in hospital they cut it open and sewed it up. I was awake.
