Hope

Hope is what we call a light in our darkest moments
But is it really like that for everyone?

Does it feel like that to the boy who's been
waiting by the door, like someone
might still come?

Or the cashier waiting on a
paycheck for rent that’s already late?

Does hope still exist for the man at the train station?
Who is still blaming himself for his family being gone?

Does he still believe in Hope? Or did hope leave with everything he lost?

Maybe hope isn't a light.

Maybe it’s just what we tell ourselves
so the dark doesn’t feel endless.

Ray, a wonderful poem. I like to believe in having hope. It gets us through our darkest hours. A thought provoking poem.
