Goodbye

Goodbye…

a word I never wanted to say.
It breaks me to imagine this world without you in it.

The future feels dark,
bleak,
empty.

Even knowing your pain is ending,
I don’t want to let you go.
I want to hold on
for as long as I can.
I want you here —
for me.

I want more sunsets.
More music to share.
More walks in nature.
More conversations that stretch for hours
Like time forgot about us.

I will miss that smile.
That attitude.
That deep, steady kindness.

When it comes to goodbye,
I am no good at it.
Part of me wants to be selfish —
to keep you here
because my heart isn’t ready.

But I know
you are tired.
Tired of the pain.
The struggle you have endured for years.

The battle you faced
braver than anyone I have ever known.

You have shown me
what strength looks like.

What family means.
What love does when it refuses to quit.

I don’t want to let you go —
but I know…
i know it is time.

Time to move beyond the pain.
Beyond the exhaustion.
Beyond the fight.

Time to find the peace
The peace you so deeply deserve.

And when you find it,
I know you’ll save me a place —
right beside you.

A place where we are finally free.
Finally whole.
Finally home.

So this is not goodbye.
It is farewell,
my dear friend.

You brought joy to my soul.
You were light
in a world that can be so dark.
And for that —
for you —
I will always be grateful.
