Alike Opposites

Free in our prison,
Together alone,
We awaken in our slumber,
Into the conflict of peace,
Lying the truth,
Smothering in clean air.

We live our death
And laugh our tears;
Defeated in our triumphs,
Cheerful of our grief.

We’re wise in our naiveté,
Guilty of our innocence,
Different in our similarities,
And evil in our good.

We are wrong in our right,
Fallible in infallibility,
Brilliant in our stupidity,
We impair our own recovery.

Out of key in harmony,
We boast our humility.
Holding grudges in forgiveness,
We accept what we refute.

We are jaded in our hope,
And weakened by our strength,
Tiny in our vastness,
We are sanctified heathens.

We are but our own opposite
Flawed perfection travelling a circle
Ever learning, never learning
Everything is absolutely relative.
