The guilty heart

I feel as though I’ve missed a step,
It’s not that I’m truly innocent.
A mistake that ruined my rep,
The cold caves close in on me
I feel as though I were tied to a tree,
As Though I would never feel free.
My stomach, as though there were butter in it, churns,
My heart feeling sick, twists, and turns.

I’m falling in a black hole, no escape,
I do regret it, but time has passed.
Seeing truth and lie clash,
Dreams of happiness are dashed.
My fear becomes greater in shape.
Alas! The feeling of guilt
Its eating me alive.
As I watch flowers wilt,
I know I won’t thrive.

Being lied to can hurt,
But being the liar burns
Like always, my heart yearns,
Freedom, back to the friendly turns.
For it is too late now, I’m wholly consumed,
From head to toe with feelings of guilt.
I’m a liar, they assumed,
Again, I watch the flowers wilt.
