A moment in time

~A moment in time ~
In case you didn't know. Im proud of the person I have been gifted to see you turn into from day one.
I knew you would make it; make it through the darkness, till the lights came back on.
It's a true gift to have sat in the darkness with you, and see you when the first lights touch your face.
It will always be the moment in time that stood still for me.
I never want that clock to tick forward, I'm scared of the future because if the clock just stops right here. You'll always be right here; next to me, as the lights come back on.
But if it ticks forward, you will realize you didn't need me after all.
You just had to believe in you, and my place will stay where I met you, in the dark.
But know this if the darkness ever returned, I'd find you again. Even knowing the ending, I'd still sit with you until the lights come back on.
Just to be given that gift of time standing still just for a moment longer, I’ll trace you lips a little longer I’ll stare just a little more, I’ll scream I love you just a little louder, and not a Second will be taken for granted.
And I'll stay here in case the lights go out one day. Here to hold your hand, here to keep you safe in the darkness.
Here to watch You stand up and realize you are the light. And you sat with me in my darkness, and the lights came back on when you saw yourself the way I see you every day.
