I didn't Know

I didn't know it would be the last time I saw you.
I didn't know it would be the last time I looked into your eyes.
I didn't know it would hurt me so badly.
I didn't know it would be my goodbye.
How could I have known the hole you'd leave?
How could I have known there wasn't much time?
How could I have known it would hurt me this much?
How could I have known that without you, I'd struggle to survive?
I see you still, in the morning sun, just as I feel you in a gentle breeze.
I see you when the red birds fly, just as I see you in my dreams.
I see you in my cup of coffee, or in a fresh baked loaf of bread.
I still see you in every part of my life, I'm just the needle, while you, were the thread.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

It is painful and sorrowful but yet we must rise like Phoenix again.
