That Next Morning
The morning after you take your life
The world will still revolve
People you know will laugh at jokes you used to make
Your parents will invite people over every month Or two
Your best friend will still smile
But there will always be a gap
Your spot at the dinner table will never disappear, but you I’ll not be filled either
Your best friend will stop by just to sit on your bed
She will cry and blame herself for not seeing you weren’t okay
Your brother won’t cry but he’ll punch holes through walls
Your father won’t speak, won’t eat, won’t leave the couch
Your little sister will ask where you went and when you’ll be home
Your mother will ignore her feelings and act like everything’s great
Your room will stay exactly home you left it because nobody can bring themselves to clean it
It will just sit there with the door cracked open
Your friends will go to your favorite restaurant
They will stare at the table or at the floor
Your usual waiter will silently walk up and sit with them
No expression on their faces
Just wondering what they could've done to to help you
The car ride home will be quiet
They will lay in their in their beds for hours wide awake
Their minds flooding with memories of you
That one time you laughed so hard milk shot out of you’re nose
When you embarrassed your friend in front of their crush but it’s okay because they both laughed about it
The next day they will be numb from no sleep and their eyes will be puffy and red from crying all night
It will click in their minds that you are never coming back
The will think of every argument, every raised voice
Every time they’ve made you cry
They will think and question themselves on home many times you were dying behind a smile
They will heal, but it will be a long time
You will never be forgotten
Every scar will be remembered forever.
