The Bank of River Lethe

When I sit by the river and I think of you
The only things I can remember are the ones I didn’t do
Dancing in the kitchen while I cook you a brew
Whispering in your ear saying I love you

I sit by the river and watch it rush past
Listen as it slithers not slow not fast
Kissin the ground unbound at last
I consume the truth I’ve found as I break fast

I forgive you for the lot
we’re on a pale blue dot
So I will fear you not
Up here I got you in a real good spot

I can’t excuse all your flaws
Or I’ll rue Sod’s Laws
I could easily bolt my doors
But you’d eagerly enter my pores

you just internally beat me till I was black and blue
So injured and wounded that l caught the flu
My body fighting itself I find that’s nothing new
Already lighting a fire in my mind spreading like a tumour

And that’s a full blown war
I ain’t got no more
Will I ever heal my sores
Man I don’t even know no more

As I sit on the river bank I shudder and panic
What if you’re the only one for me on this planet?
Your depth got me stressin your flow makes me manic
If I drowned here it wouldn’t even be tragic

But I should gain solace
In that I’m not in your waters
Your eyes won’t be my daughters
Realise that’s what you taught us
