The Journey of the unbroken
Do not dread the treachery of time,
when dogs dance upon the corpses of lions.
Do not think their dancing crowns them kings
dogs remain dogs,
lions remain lions.
A lion may starve in the forest,
while dogs are fed from silver plates.
A fool may sleep upon silken beds,
while a scholar makes his rest in dust and fate.
Galileo wore shackles, condemned for heresy,
while flat-earth peers strutted proud and free.
Do you not see the sea, vast and deep,
where corpses float above,
and pearls in silence sleep.
J.K. Rowling turned rejection’s scorn
into libraries where magic was born.
Twelve closed doors could not still her pen,
she bent every No toward a brighter When.
Steve Harvey lived three years in his car,
yet laughter carried him, a rising star.
From a van in Canada with family near,
Jim Carrey painted the world with cheer.
With his son in bathrooms and shelters bare,
Chris Gardner rose from pure despair.
Hunger could not break him,
nor nights of homelessness.
His life inspired The Pursuit of Happyness.
From poverty’s grip in Brooklyn’s streets,
Schultz birthed Starbucks, where the world meets.
From countless defeats and sorrow’s reign,
Abraham Lincoln rose through pain,
to bind a nation, torn apart,
with freedom’s fire and steadfast heart.
They were doubted, mocked, and opposed
yet against all odds, they rose.
Against ridicule, they carved their way:
defeat is not final, hope finds its day.
We blame our time, but fault lives within.
Our hands grew idle, our voices thin.
We traded creation for imitation,
traded thought for noise,
and complacency herded us
into hollow choice.
When elections matter,
we seem not to care.
We stopped believing,
we started following.
Hearts sold cheap for hollow likes,
five hundred families copy the same dance
while real matters lay forgot.
The glass is half empty,
and the glass is half full.
The odds are with you,
and against you too.
You pick the lens,
you pick the path.
You can choose to be a dog,
live life as a number,
or be a lion,
make a difference,
a legacy that shall not falter.
A lion’s roar echoes, a number just ends.
Temporary defeat is not what lasts.
From trials endured, true greatness is cast.
March through your journey,
unvalidated, unspoken.
Be one of us,
the few unbroken.
We are the unbroken,
we rise through the pain,
fire in our hearts,
running through our veins.
Time after time,
hope finds its day.
From the ashes we’re born,
we lead the way.
