Line of strength

Line of Strength

I look into the mirror it’s the doorway to my past,
I come from a line of dreamers,
from beginning to the last.

Hands that built from nothing,
hearts that refused to break,
voices that turned their struggle
into songs the world can’t fake.

I come from women clothed in courage;
men who walked through fire,
who prayed beneath the hardest nights,
and rose a little higher.

Their stories live beneath my skin,
their courage in my tone,
their victories beat within my chest —
I’ve never stood alone.

They whispered, “Child, remember this,
our blood runs through your veins”
So when I face the storms of life,
I face them unafraid.

The mirror doesn’t show just me
it shows the ones before,
A light reflecting from their eyes,
to my side of this door.

I come from a line of love and fight,
of wisdom, rhythm, flame,
and every time I say I’m Jazz —
I’m calling out their name.
