Opioid

One life, two lives three lives, four
I'm the one you feared knocking knocking at your door.
It's me your friend, I'll make you feel good
I've now made my way to your side of the hood.
I'm used in hospitals, how bad can I be?
You'll find out soon, when you bow to me.
You think it's for fun, it will be fine
Until you give me your soul, your life is now mine.
Soon enough, you'll hate the tears and the loss
You'll want to quit, but I'm now your boss.
Your family and friends will worry everyday
You'll lie and lie just to keep them at bay
You'll try to rid me, you'll really try.
Here come the aches, the pain and sweats oh how you'll cry
You'll cry and you'll plead and think of me again
You'll shout with venom, you'll curse and blame them.
One day, two days, three weeks, four
Don't you see? It's me you adore.
You can't be sober, I'm not through
You see? All your family and friends have given up on you.
Its just us now and the bed you've made
It's not all my fault, it was your life to trade.
Look at you, begging for money just to high.
Little do you know, you've told your last lie
It's time for me go, and onto my next
I'm sorry to say, but you've failed your test.
You're no good to me, now that you're dead
A penny for your thoughts, that remain in your head.

Thanks for sharing this... exposing your thoughts through your unique poetic style. Welcome to Poetry Soup. I welcome you with the love of the Lord, expressed by John 3:16 of the Bible, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." Be blessed.

You've captured the deceptive allure, the destructive control, and the ultimate, devastating outcome of substance dependence. The escalating despair and the voice of the addiction itself are truly impactful.

Addiction is an awful, self-inflicted disease. Drug dealers are the scourge of mankind. Nice personification Krystle
