Cracking Glass

Cracking Glass

Your mind fills like a glass
Always taking never ask
Never asking questions and never drawing lines
Never turning forwards, just staring far behind
You crack and break and bend and press
You chase and burn and scratch but yet
Walls crumble and never stand
They’re built of rubble and pure clear sand

You’re pushing and you’re turning
Clear as shiny day
You’re shoving and you’re twisting
No one shall look your way
Not under glitter and gold
And old stories that once were told
Ignore the signs and hardships
Ignore your cracking glass

Reasoning overflows and the whole world shall learn
Your vices feel like agony
Rereading each and every verse
You cry and scream and beg and wish
But deep down you know what's whole
A hope of that words can tame that face
They can make it feel just fine
Your glass is nearly full, nobody knows better

Your back is like a bridge you see
One built hard and strong simply to outlast
One built to stretch right over the semblance of your past
Your hands and feet are stepping stones
Their heels will dig too deep
Your shoulders made for climbing on
Your knees they bend too weak
Your eyes they blink and shut showing you truly are to meek

Eager and hopeful you blink and you stare
Your mind has reached its brink
Your glass has overfilled
Nobody is aware of what you think
Not until you draw that line
Not unless your seen
Your mind will flood and you will swim
Because you’re just like me
