Was

Loving it was
And so beautiful
Soft it was
And so addictive

Like the trees that were planted last spring
We could’ve grown together
Like the weather moving
We could’ve changed together

Ignored it was
But I still loved
Forgotten it was
But I could handle it

Like a fire that needs to be fed
You longed for more
Like salt on an opened wound
Your words stung and clung to my heart

Harsh it was
And I couldn’t feel
Abusive it was
And I wore the scars
